Jeg er professor i Religionsvitenskap og leder av MF CASR. Jeg tok doktorgraden min i Religionsvitenskap ved Universitetet i Bergen (Dr.art., 2007), med fokus på jødisk litteratur i seinantikken. Forskningsinteressene mine er den kristne manuskripttransmisjonen av jødiske tekster, apokalyptisk fiksjon i fortid og nåtid, den akademiske konstruksjonen av tidlig jødedom, etiske og epistemologiske perspektiver på tekstforskning, manuskripter og kulturarv, samt forholdet mellom media og akademia.
Jeg har publisert en rekke bøker og artikler om den apokalyptiske teksten 2 Baruk, om imaginære bøker, paratekstuelle praksiser, Materiell Filologi og mediehistorie, syriske manuskripter, og om religion og populærkultur. Jeg har, blant annet, skrevet bøkene Invisible Manuscripts: Textual Scholarship and the Survival of 2 Baruch (2021) og Working with Manuscripts: A Guide for Textual Scholars (med Brent Nongbri, kommer i 2025). Akkurat nå jobber jeg med tre bokprosjekter: Fragments of Improbable Books, Dovre faller: Endetid på norsk og Early Jewish Literature in Christian Manuscript Transmission.
