Borrowing
If you are a student at MF and have a student card, you can borrow books in MF's library.
Regulations for the Library at MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society
The user is responsible for all borrowed material and its return.
It is not permitted to borrow books on behalf of others, or pass on books you have borrowed to others.
No items can be taken out of the country.
If borrowed materials are lost or damaged, the user must pay a fine. Minimum fee is NOK 700,-.
Borrowed materials should be returned on time:
- Normal lending period is 4 weeks, but renewal is usually possible, unless there is a waiting list
- Books from the curriculum can only be lent to MF students and staff for 1 week.
- Reference material can be borrowed for 1 day in the reading room
- Periodicals are lent for 1 week, except the current year.
Users must notify the library of any change of address or status in relation to MF.
Violation of the rules may deprive the user of the right to further loans.
Distance learning students
Students living far away from MF, can have the material sent to their home address. You can place a hold on a book, and it will be sent to you when it becomes available.
You can contact us directly, or order through Oria. Literature that is not available in our library, can be ordered for you from other libraries.

Borrowing period is normally 4 weeks, except for curriculum literature which can be borrowed for 1 week.
You need to pay for the return shipment of books to MF.
Cost of services
Copies and loans from other libraries are free for MF students.

Borrowing older literature
Rules for using literature older than 100 years
- Documents and books older than 100 years cannot be taken outside of MF.
- Teachers can in certain cases borrow them to their own offices, where they can lock it. In those cases, they need to inform the library about how many days they need to use the material.
- Usage will be determined in accordance to the condition of the books.
- Order the books at the latest the day before it is to be used.
- When retrieving the books from the magazine, a red leaflet bearing the borrower's name is inserted into the book.
- When the book is handed over to the borrower, he/she acknowledges this in a separate protocol. When the book is returned, this protocol must be updated. Can also be lent in Alma.
- The material should preferably be used in a place that can be seen from the counter. During breaks, it must be put back in the counter.
- Use is limited to between kl. 8am - 3pm on weekdays.
- The material should not be used as a writing surface.
- It must be ensured that the table used is clean.
- Copying / photography must be clarified with the library staff.
- Food / drink can not be consumed near the material.
- If the material is to be used over several days, it must be stored in a lockable cupboard, or office, overnight.
