"Social Systems in Transition: Toward a Higher Level of Diversity in Galatians"
The issues of diversity, and the construct of collective identity, are central to Paul's letter to the Galatians. In contrast with a "non-gospel" calling for a collective identity based on sameness, Paul suggests the concept of adoption rather than adaptation. Still, this transition toward a higher level of diversity appears to have had to face reactions from prominent persons even within the movement. As seen from the perspective of social systems theory, increasing the level of diversity is the pathway to resilience – but it is not often an easy one.
