Guidelines for using electronic resources
The MF Library subscribes to databases, e-books, e-journals and other electronic information resources. License agreements limit the way the resources can be used. The main principles for the agreements are summarised below.
If the publishers/vendors discover unusual activities they can cut access for all of MF and demand economic compensation.
Every user is responsible for being aware of and adhering to the terms of use for the different platforms/resources.
The MF Library needs to be consulted in cases where staff or students wish to use text- and datamining (TDM) or artificial intelligence (AI) on the subscribed resources.
Permitted:
- students and staff can only use the Library resources for studying, teaching, research and other purposes directly connected to studies or employment at MF
- students and staff can download, save, copy or print a limited part of the content of an electronic information resource according to existing agreements
Not permitted:
- use or share articles, books or data outside of MF, for instance at a different work place, with with acquaintances or via email lists, ResearchGate or other media
- download large quantities of articles, entire booklets or volumes of a journal
- download more of an e-book than the agreement allows
- automate the download of resources using computer programs, browser extensions, etc.
- use the material for commercial purposes, i.e. resell, distribute or publish content regardless of format
- remove, obscure or alter any copyright or proprietary notices included in the material
- excessive/systematic downloading and storage, e.g.:download large quantities of articles, entire booklets or volumes of a journal
- download more of an e-book than the agreement allows
- automate the download of content using computer programs, browser extensions, etc.
