Information about access to Microdata
The accessibility of register data for research purposes in Norway is good, but privacy protection requirements mean that the application processes for using data can be time-consuming and costly.
NSD and Statistics Norway now offer direct access to Statistics Norway’s register data through microdata.no. With this service researchers can use non-anonymized data through a platform that protects confidentiality, where the researcher only has indirect contact with personal data, where data remains in Statistics Norway’s possession, and where the platform ensures that all output is anonymous.
MF has an institutional agreement with microdata.no that makes access to microdata.no available to researchers (staff and students) at MF.
For more about this service, see: https://microdata.no/about/
Academic staff who want access to microdata.no should contact senior advisor Unn Målfrid Rolandsen.
Master students who want access to microdata.no needs a recommendation from their supervisor. The recommendation should be sent to student@mf.no.
