Religious Worlds of Oslo RL5130
RL5130 Religious Worlds of Oslo focuses on religion as it is expressed locally in the Oslo area and how these diverse local religious practices are informed by local as well as global realities. Through a selection of case studies, the course will focus on urban religion and religious superdiversity. Students of RL5130 will learn to observe religion as lived practice and get training in ethnographic method. The course will use the local surroundings in Oslo actively, moving teaching out of the MF classroom and bringing guests from local religious communities and networks back into the classroom. Theoretically, the course will be inspired by the approaches of Lived Religion, Religion and Spatiality, and Urban Religion.
