MF Centre for Church Innovation and Research
MF KOM is a communication link between scholars at MF and church bodies and workers who wish to make use of MF's expertise in their own contexts. The Centre builds upon the breadth of academic resources at MF within research, innovation, scholarly communication, consulting, classes and teaching. The Centre facilitates opportunities and performs services for parties at the local, regional and national level of the Church of Norway and in other churches.

Our mandate
May 2018
MF KOM is to function as a communication link between scholars at MF and church bodies and workers who wish to make use of MF's expertise in their own contexts. The centre will make use of the breadth of academic resources at MF within research, innovation, scholarly communication, consulting, classes and teaching. The centre will facilitate opportunities and performs services for parties at the local, regional and national level of the Church of Norway and in other churches.
Areas of work
- Competency development and scholarly communication
- Develop courses, educational opportunities and temporary research stays for dioceses, deaneries, wards/administrative councils, staff, professional groups and other relevant working groups within the church
- Function as a communication link between scholars at MF and the church in connection with talks, lectures and other work, etc.
- Strategic, staff and congregational development
- Continue with and develop diverse opportunities within systematic congregational development for parishes of the national church
- Assist parishes and other relevant working groups of the church in their development processes with analysis, scholarly advice and support
- Contract research
- Coordinate MF's contracted work for church bodies within research and innovation
Organization and resources
- The centre is under the authority of MF's rector.
- The rector assigns the daily management of the centre to one of the employees.
- Connected with the centre is an advisory committee consisting of 5-7 members designated by the rector from among MF's employees.
- Budgets and accounts are set up for individual projects.
- The centre participates in cooperative bodies of the church and meetings with them by agreement with the MF's management / rector.
- The centre sets up meetings with external partners as needed.
