On 14 August, we start the semester in the traditional way with an academic semester opening. The semester opening is open to all students - both new and more experienced.
The academic semester opening is a traditional opening ceremony that has been held every year since the start of MF in 1908. The highlight of the ceremony is the opening lecture.
This year the lecture is given by our professor of existential psychology, Tatjana Schnell.
Learning to speak science
Tatjana Schnell's research focuses on the conceptualisation and measurement of meaning in life, and the connections between meaning in life and secularity, religion, spirituality, well-being, health, work, and civic engagement. Her research is often featured in the media both in Norway and internationally. She is also a regular columnist in the German newspaper Die Zeit, where she writes about meaning in life and related issues. At MF, she teaches psychology of religion.
At the academic semester opening, you will also receive a welcome speech from Rector Vidar L. Haanes and a greeting from the student council leader.
English translation will be available.
Everyone is very welcome!
