How to apply for Erasmus+
- Contact Elray Henriksen at the international office for guidance.
- Get confirmation/invitation from the receiving institution you are going to.
- Complete the online application form by 15 February 2023 for the academic year 2023/2024.
- Your application in the online form will be processed by your line-manager. You will receive feedback on the application within 2-3 weeks.
Through Erasmus+, you can go on an exchange to teach or receive training as an MF employee. Both permanent academic staff, research fellows and employees in technical-administrative positions can apply for a grant through this scheme.
It is possible to combine teaching and training exchanges.
Teaching exchange
Duration from 2 days to 2 months. Normally, support is provided for 3-5 working days. Longer stays must be specifically justified. Support is granted for up to two additional travel days. Travel days cannot be counted towards fulfilling the minimum requirement for duration.
At least 8 hours of teaching. This can be, for example, seminars, lectures and guidance. You must be physically present when you teach (not online teaching). Minimum 4 hours of teaching will be required if you are planning a combination of teaching and training stays.
Prerequisites:
- You must be an academic staff or PhD/postdoc at MF
- MF must have an Erasmus+ agreement with the European university you are visiting and teaching mobility must be included in the agreement. Contact Elray Henriksen at the International Office to get an overview of which institutions MF cooperates with.
- Content, scope and dates of the stay must be clarified with the recipient institution before you apply for an Erasmus+ grant.
- The nearest manager must approve the stay and you must agree with the manager how you will cover any expenses in excess of the scholarship sum.
Training exchange
Duration from 2 days to 2 months. Normally, support is provided for 3-5 working days. Longer stays must be specifically justified. Support is granted for up to two additional travel days. Travel days cannot be counted towards fulfilling the minimum requirement for duration.
Participation in conferences is not supported.
Examples of types of stay you can get support for:
- Participation in Staff training week , International week , partner days and the like
- Job shadowing: Administrative staff travel to an institution to learn from colleagues' experiences and best practices
- Seminars and workshops at educational institutions or other relevant organisations
- Method courses and summer courses (only for academic staff and fellows)
- Stay in a company with training or observation
- Language course
Prerequisites:
- All MF employees can apply.
- It is not a requirement that MF has an Erasmus agreement with the institution you are traveling to.
- The nearest manager must approve the stay and you must agree with the manager how you will cover any expenses in excess of the scholarship sum.
- Administrative staff are encouraged to join forces to organize stays with relevance for several people in the same section.
The scholarship only covers part of the expenses
The Erasmus grant is a grant that covers part of the expenses for the stay abroad. The scholarship does not cover salary costs.
There are fixed rates for travel support and accommodation
The scholarship consists of travel support and a subsidy for the stay. The rates are set by the European Commission for one academic year at a time.
The travel support is based on the distance between MF and the host institution. The European Commission's own distance calculator is used to calculate the distance:
Travel distance | Total per applicant |
10 - 99 km | 23 EUR |
100 - 499 km | 180 EUR |
500 - 1999 km | 275 EUR |
2000 - 2999 km | 360 EUR |
3000 - 3999 km | 530 EUR |
4000 - 7999 km | 820 EUR |
8000 km or more | 1500 EUR |
Subsidy for accommodation is based on fixed daily rates. The rate depends on which country you are traveling to:
Receiving country | Amount per day (first 14 days)* |
Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Irland, Luxembourg, Sweden, Great Britain, Lichtenstein | 90-180 EUR |
Austria, Belgium, Germany, France | 79-160 EUR |
Italy, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Malta, Portugal | 79-160 EUR |
Bulgaria, Croatia, Tsjekkia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Turkey | 67-140 EUR |
*) For longer stays, the daily rate is reduced after the 14th day to 70% of the sum.
