Externally Funded Research
Some research ideas can be developed into larger projects. By applying for external funding, you may have the opportunity to complete various research activities, also together with partners (workshops, fieldwork, archival studies and more).
Questions about external funding? Please get in touch with me!
Rolandsen, Unn Målfrid Høgseth
Director of Research
Contact the director of research and the finance department as early as possible in the application process. That way you can set up a timeline for the progression of the application process and plan administrative support for the project.
Quality Assurance Prior to Sumbitting an Application
Project applications must be approved by MF's management. Questions about time set aside for research and internal funding from MF are to be worked out with your immediate supervisor.
Ask colleagues for input on the application and project design early on in the process.
The research department can read through the application in order to see if it matches the call and to assure its quality with regards to formal errors in filling out the application forms. Applications turned in with formal errors are normally rejected by funding agencies.
An application budget proposal must be sent to the finance department for final quality assurance at least 1 week before the application deadline.
How to Plan an Application to the Research Council of Norway (RCN)
RCN offers funding for research projects in both annual calls and calls with an open deadline. Please check the RCN web pages for updates on open calls.
If you consider applying for external funding, please feel free to contact the director of research to set up a progression plan with customised deadlines to help you finalise the application in time. The research administration can also coordinate the development of a project budget with the finance department.
MF CASR Arranges Workshops for RCN-applicants
at irregular intervals MF CASR hosts workshops where people working on project applications to RCN can receive guidance and input from colleagues across disciplinary boundaries. The workshops are open to all employees, independent of subject field or discipline.
Financial Support for Developing EU-funded Projects
The Research Council has financial support arrangements for strengthening Norwegian participation in the EU's framework program for research, including funds from the ERC (Starting grant, Advanced grant, Consolidator grant and more). For more information, contact the director of research.
If you are planning a project application to the Erasmus+ programme, you can apply for support for project establishment via DIKU (Norwegian only).
