Before coming to MF (December 2019) I was associate professor in practical theology at NLA University College. Prior to that I worked as an ordained youth minister in two Oslo congregations within the Church of Norway.
My main academic interests concern theology in practice: the use of theology, and theological ethnography – where the life of the church meets academic reflection. In my research I work for the most part with qualitative methods, often driven by a curiosity about how theology is shaped by a society in rapid change. I have a soft spot for youth, youth culture and youth ministry. It is therefore with joy I lecture in courses like Christian- and Religious education (TEOL2510), Theology and Pedagogy of the Church Building (PED5550), and Between Text and Sermon (TEOL5710).
Two scholarly networks have in particular been academically significant: Ecclesiology and Ethnography Network and International Association for the Study of Youth Ministry. In the former network I have served as the Academic Co-ordinator for the annual conference at Durham University for several years.
