Arden Chao (趙埜均) is a postdoctoral researcher at MF Norwegian School of Theology, working on the ERC-funded project "Political Deification: Theorising from Asia (POLDEI)" (PI: Prof. Moumita Sen). His research focuses on the political and institutional history of early Republican China, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between parliamentary institutions and warlord politics during the 1920s. Chao received his PhD in History from Peking University, where his dissertation explored "Chinese Parliament and its Co-competition with Warlords, 1922-1925," and holds an MA from Peking University and a BA from National Taiwan University. His broader research interests include the political and intellectual history of modern East Asia, Chinese constitutionalism, the transformation of political discourse in Republican China, and the modernization of Chinese political institutions.
