MF appoints its first Merited Teachers
On December 19, four staff members at MF were awarded the title of Merited Teacher. This is the first time MF has granted this status.
The status of Merited Teacher at MF is awarded to staff members who can document significant efforts and strong results in their pedagogical development work.
– The award is a recognition of the substantial efforts these merited teachers have made to develop their own teaching and promote student learning, says Pro-Rector Kjetil Fretheim.
All academic staff who have been permanently employed at MF for at least two years, have teaching responsibilities in their position, and have documented basic competence in university or higher education pedagogy are eligible to apply for the status of Merited Teacher.
– Quality education is important at MF. These merited teachers will be key resources in the ongoing work to renew the programs and further develop teaching and supervision, says Pro-Rector Kjetil Fretheim.
Drivers for development
Merited Teachers at MF play a special role as drivers of pedagogical development and fostering a culture of sharing among colleagues. The title of Merited Teacher comes with a salary supplement of NOK 20,000 and a one-time amount (NOK 20,000) as operational funds to support further university pedagogical development.
The status of Merited Teacher is awarded every four years.

- Atle Ottesen Søvik – Professor of Systematic Theology
- Trine Anker – Professor in Studies of Religion and Didactics
- Marielle Stigum Gleiss – Associate Professor of Human Geography
