My PhD- project is integrated into the RCN-funded research project MEMOROBIA, based at the MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion, and Society. My project, “The enslaved female,” will expand MEMOROBIA’s focus on the historical legacy of Roma enslavement (including internalized racism, antigypsyism/ anti-Roma racism, and racialized poverty) and its memorialization. My overall aims are to a) draw much-needed attention to a little-known aspect of Romanian and European history b) reveal the female slave experience and c) contribute to the memorialization and knowledge dissemination of slavery in Romania.
