How to pay
You will find your semester fee invoice under “Payment” in StudentWeb.
If you have paid the SiO fee (or similar) to another university/college, you can deduct this amount from the invoice. For your payment to be valid at MF, you must register the receipt showing you have paid the SiO fee. You can present the receipt to the Student Reception on the 3rd floor or send it by e-mail to student@mf.no.
Deadline for payment/registering SiO receipt:
- 25 August (Autumn semester)
- 15 January (Spring semester)
Please note that late payment will result in an administration fee (see more information below).
What am I paying for?
For most students, the semester fee consists of three items:
- Study fee to MF
The fee contributes to financing teaching, exam administration, electronic compendiums, copying, and more. Part of the fee goes towards financing student democracy as well as various initiatives for the learning environment. - Fee to SiO (NOK 690)
This fee is mandatory for all students in Oslo. As a student affiliated with the Student Welfare Organisation in Oslo (SiO), you can use their health services, participate in free courses and events, work out at SiO's fitness centers at an affordable price, and apply for student housing. - Voluntary contribution to assistance funds (NOK 50)
NOK 10 is allocated to the Students’ and Academics’ International Assistance Fund (SAIH) and NOK 40 to the MF Students' Assistance Fund. The MF Students' Assistance Fund is distributed each year to a charitable cause determined by the students' general assembly. This is a voluntary contribution and can be deducted from the total amount when you pay.

Semester fee reimbursement policy
The following deadlines apply to reimbursement of the paid semester fee:
If you have made the payment by the payment deadline of 25 August/15 January, you have the right to receive a refund of the semester fee if you withdraw from your studies within 14 days after the deadline (8 September/29 January).
If you have been granted an extended payment deadline, a 14-day right to withdraw applies.
To exercise the right of semester fee reimbursement, you must contact MF (student@mf.no) and clearly communicate your intention to withdraw from your studies. We recommend providing written notice, preferably via email.
After the deadlines mentioned above, you will generally not receive a refund of the semester fee or any portion of it. Exceptions can be made in the event of unforeseen, serious circumstances making further studies unreasonably burdensome or impossible (personal force majeure), such as severe illness.
Administration fee
If you have been granted semester registration, course registration or payment after the stipulated deadlines, it will cost you NOK 200 in administrative fees.
Improving grades
It costs NOK 1500 to retake an exam that you have already passed. You must sign up for the next ordinary exam in StudentWeb. After the exam registration deadline, you will receive an e-mail with payment information and an invoice StudentWeb.
