Building a Moral Economy: Ecological, Equitable, Democratic

“[T]he success or failure of any historical age is the extent to which those living at that time have fulfilled the special role that history has imposed upon them” (Thomas Berry). Today, we know the terrible truth: We of the Global North (and especially in the United States) are living in ways that – through climate change – are dismantling the conditions for life to flourish on Earth, and are devastating countless climate vulnerable people.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, addressing this reality will require “transforming the world economy at a scale and speed that ‘has no documented historic precedent.’” Likewise, social equity requires transition from the exploitative, extractive, finance-driven global economy that concentrates wealth in very few hands and rewards maximizing short-term profit regardless of the social cost.

I would like to share with you my current project, a series of 6 books dedicated to helping equip people who are concerned about the interlocking crises of climate injustice and economic injustice with knowledge, tools, and moral-spiritual wisdom for building moral equitable, ecological, and democratic economies – globally and locally.  I will welcome eagerly your ideas and input.
