Online Application
MF uses an online system for the nomination and application of incoming exchange students.
Students are nominated by their home institution for exchange at MF and will then receive an email with detailed instructions on how to complete their application to MF.
Deadlines
Fall semester (August – December)

Instructions
Step 1: Log in
Once you have been nominated by your home university, you will receive an email with a link to our online application system. Click the link in the email, change the language to English in the upper right corner, and scroll to the bottom to “Login International Applicant.”
Please request a password by clicking “Send me a new password” and enter the email address you were nominated with. A password will be sent to you. You can then log in to the application system under “Login International Applicant.”
Step 2 : My Profile
On this page, please enter your personal details. Make sure to provide your correct postal address in your home country, including both postal code/zip code and city on the same line.
Under “Do you apply with non-formal competence?”, simply select “No.” This question is not relevant for incoming exchange students.
Click on "Next" to continue.
Step 3: Application
On the application page you will see the details of your nomination.
- Under Application alternatives, select Exchange.
- At the bottom, under Extra information, write your current study level at the time of application (for example: 2nd year Bachelor or 1st year Master).
When everything looks good, click "Submit your application" to complete this step.
Step 4: My documents
On this page you will need to upload the required documents for your application. To do this, click Upload new document.
Required documents for Incoming Exchange students:
- Transcript of record or diploma - your most recent academic transcript from your home university (Master students: please also include your Bachelor level transcript)
- Passport - a copy of your passport/EU Identity Card, showing personal data and photo
- Picture - a passport like photo, which we can use for our digital student administration system
- Other - a short motivation letter
After admission
We aim to send out Letters of Admission within three weeks after the application deadline.
Student accommodation
Student housing must be booked before 1 November for the spring semester and 1 June for the fall semester.
If you plan to apply for SiO housing, please register by sending an email to international@mf.no, and we will send you more information about housing in due time.
Academic Calendar
The spring semester runs from January to mid-June, and the fall semester from mid-August to mid-December. Exchange students should arrive in Oslo at least one week early to take part in Orientation Week.
