– Religion is an interdisciplinary field that can be studied from many different perspectives, says Professor Iselin Frydenlund at MF. It is both challenging and fascinating, and it is particularly well suited as a topic for The Holberg School Programme because it can be explored within many of the subjects taught in upper secondary education.

Many pathways into the study of religion

Religion is often associated with the subject Religion og etikk in the final year of upper secondary school, but it can also be examined as a cultural, social, and political phenomenon across various disciplines. For example, students can explore religion’s role in popular culture, the relationship between religion and radicalization, or the significance of religion in international politics and society.

A strong academic environment

MF has one of Norway’s largest academic communities in religious studies and sociology of religion, in addition to theological disciplines. Through the collaboration, MF offers researcher contacts and sparring partners for schools interested in exploring religion-related projects.

– We hope this partnership will inspire more students to research religion and discover the many approaches and perspectives available, says Frydenlund.
